Combat

I'm a medic on a battlefield
I watch as people fall
Can never stop the pain before it starts
Can never turn away the soldiers from the war.  

I'm an expert with the scalpel,
A split second surgeon
For a trigger happy world

What am I to do when their blood is on my hands?
Staining me through my latex gloves
While another bullet wound sends its victim into shock.

What am I to do when I can't save them?
Left with letting go
Left with silenced whispers
