The glow fades but the past gets brighter
Standing in blinding contrast to the darkening skies.
It’s as if the dimming house lights summon
The haunting façades to dance across the stage.

And running can’t save you because you’re locked inside
Calling on the dawn.

Yet whispering prayers for simple sunrise won’t absolve your sins
As you toss again in a futile search for relaxation
you realize the only time you’ll ever have is now.
This moment smothered in the imprisoned shadows
is your stunning epiphany.

Because running can’t save you when you’re locked inside
Calling on the dawn.

And The hands that reach out can’t hold you
Unless you hold on too.

“it's amazing how the dark wraps around us and re-animates our darkest fears and nightmares that had been forgotten.”

Something my friend said inspried me.
Sadly the poem didn't turn out nearly as well as the first stanza said it could.

Wow. I love it.

The way that the character is trying to run away, right until and including the last line, and how they are offered help and have the choice to be saved...

really powerful!

Happy i could inspire you :)

For that reason you can't write with music playing, and anyone who says he can is either writing badly, or not listening to the music, or lying. You need to hear what you're writing, and for that you need silence.

Any time - like most if not all of your writing, this is a really good piece :)

A beautiful capture of light and darkness. The last two lines are incredible.
